Who cares who started it? There still 2 different bands, both sound different.
I prefer slipknot, doesn't mean mushroomhead didn't start it, it means my personal preference is slipknot.

Also, MushroomHead have clearly made it known they do not like tagging on with mainstream companies. They like to keep their music exactly as they originally created it. It's been known they have turned down labels in order to keep their music and style exactly as they started.
